LI: To enter an art, science, or other competition
This is my third task I've completed to get my silver confidence.
Last term I entered a colouring competition at the Panmure Lagoon Swimming pools on Easter Monday. I needed to colouring a picture given by one of the managers at the swimming pool. It was a picture a bunny, basket, and a bunch of easter eggs scatered around the picture. When I handed in my picture they said they will put my picture on the wall and decide who wins the competition. When I came back next week I saw that they put star sticker next to my picture and when I went to the counter the manager said that I won the competition. My prize was four easter eggs and a big chocolate bunny.
I enjoyed doing this competition because I got to show my colouring skills.
LI: To understand a budget is a plan for managing money
LI: To plan a night out that fits within the given budget of $45.00
LI: To create a summary about Money
This week, my group created a aummary about money. We first started off by reading about it. It talked about how money was used back in the days, how money was created? Who created money? What money looked like in acient history? We then found 20 words that we thought was important from the story, then we chose six most important words from the 20 words. After that we created a summary telling us about what we read by using the six most important words.
I found this task interesting because I learnt that the first metal coin were made about 3,000 years ago in China.
This is my first task I've completed to get my silver attitude badge.
During week I've written a thank you note to a teacher and a staff memeber. The student I turtored was Sasuke and I taught him written algorithm. I told the simple steps on how to solve a equation using written algorithm and then I showed him an example by writing it on a whiteboard. He wanted me to explain it again so he would understand the strategy better. At the end he understood and he would like to use this strategy to solve hard equations.
I've found this activity fun because I got take the oppertunity to teach a student how to use written algorithm.
LI: To make wise descision with money
Today LS2 met a guy from the ASB named Marlon who taught us how to be smart with our money and to stop to think and make good descision.
We played a game in teams to teach us about when to spend and when to save money. The game was about us going on holiday to Fiji, our budget was $1,800 and we had to make sure we spend the right amount of money on the right things. Since this game is about a holiday which ever team has the most points at the end of the game to show how much fun we had their wins. We could use a credit card but we need to pay the bank the amount of money we took at the right time before we they add $100 more.
We needed to spend our money on our passport, economy, accomodation, and activites. We could spend $300 on insurance but it might be a waste of money if nothing happens and thats when we needed to think about it. My group spent $200 for the passport, $500 for the flight tickets, $600 for the hotel and the food, $300 for insurance, $200 for the activities.
At the end all of the teams had 12 points and no money at the end of the game which means everyone tied. This happened because we all made the same and right descision.
I found this activity interesting because I got to learn how when we shound spend money and when to save money.
LI: To use powerful words to describe a setting so that it paints a clear picture in the mind of a reader.
LI: To use the language features and structure of published poem to help use write our own poem.
We looked at the language features and structure of a poem called ‘A Moment in Time’ and used our experiences from camp to follow the structure and collaboratively create our own moment in time poem.
To describe what we heard, what we saw, how we felt and what we wondered we used our senses, adjectives and adverbs.
Ajectives are words that describes nouns. Example: The big dog was hungry.
Adverbs are words that describes verbs. Example: The boy swims well.
I found this task interesting because I learnt how to use ajectives and adverbs in a poem.
LI: To read for meaning and understanding
LI: To use smart searching skills
LI: To explain and understand a text
Did you know that cockroaches have many senses that help them avoid danger?
As a group we read and discussed the text, and finding any of our unknown vocabulary. After that we summarized the text, and discussed with each other any of the facts that we found interesting. We enjoyed working together and discovering more about cockroaches and their survival techniques.
I found this activity interesting because I got to learn new facts about cockroaches.
LI:To learn about Isaac Newton
