Kiwi Can

LI:Is to understand people emotions.

Our theme was resilience and out topic was emotions and our catch phrase for this week our catch phrase was, "Kiwi can says if you feel it, let it out, don't doubt. Just let it all out.

Energiser
This week our energiser was, "how do you feel?" We had to high five 10 people or more. Next we had to do 25 star jumps. Then we had to do something challenging, we had to hold a plank for 10 seconds then we had to hold it for a minute. That was the challenging part of the energiser. Then our kiwi can teacher asked us how we felt when we did those challenges.

Activity
This week our activity was called, "emotion chrades" We had to get into to groups and then our kiwi can teacher gave each group a piece of paper. What ever it says on the paper we had to try and act it out to the other groups but we can't talk. The other groups had to try and figure out what we are acting out.

Smart searching

LI:To use key words for better searching.

This week we are learning about smart searching. We had to search information that we want to know about netball. We had to find keywords in our question so we can copy and past it into our google search. Once we found the right website that answers our questions we had to link that website to the text box that says answer. The last thing we had to do is write down our questions on a different slides and then put down the answer to the question.

Inquiry|Mind lab| Motat

LI:To learn about engineers.

Yesterday afternoon all of LS1, LS2 and room 5 went on a trip to Motat. Motat stands for museum of transportation and technology. There were 3 people there to help us if we need some help during our day at Motat. Their names were Emma, Kinsa and Daimon. During out trip at Motat LS1 did 2 activity's. Before we did those activity's our teachers had to split LS1 into year 5's and 6's.

Activity 1 and 2

The first activity that the year 5's did was trying to make a flash light using connecting blocks, motor and a LED. LED stands for light emitting diode. We had to work together with other people to complete, to do that we had to get into a group of three. My partners were Chisa and Elaario. We tried and make a windmill but we ran out of time.

The last activity that the year 5's did was trying to make a electric car. The stuff we had to use was skewers, tape, wheels, scissors, cardboard, motor and a propeller. This time we had to make a group of 2 but we had to partner up with someone that we don't usually work with. My partner was Sasuke. We manage to finish the body and the wheels for the car but we didn't have enough time to do the engine.

Here are 2 photos of us doing the activity's.

Commenting

LI:To learn how to comment on peoples blog.

This week I decided to comment on Marcaiyla's blog. I comment on her blog post about 2D and 3D shapes. I just asked her one thing to change, I asked her if she could put a little information into her blurb but she still did an amazing job.

Basic facts

LI:To remember my basic maths facts.

This week I decided to do an a addition challenge. I went up to 10. My time was 2 minutes and 22 seconds. I took a screenshot of my proof for people who don't believe me.

Emergency rescue

LI:To summarise a text.

This week I summarised this non-fiction book called emergency rescue. It's about a lot of different things you need to know when you need help like is your house is on fire or you got hurt. I took a screenshot of my work so for the people that don't believe me can see my proof.

The possum problem

Text title: The possum problem

Author: Johanna Knox
I think the main idea of this text is that possums are damaging forest, farmers and gardens.
One example of a supporting detail is that possums are harmful to chicks and insect like weta, snails and spiders.
Another example of a supporting detail is that today there are about 30 million possums that lives in New Zealand.
It is clear that the main idea is about possum problems in New Zealand.

Because they are making our environment nasty by  trees from forests and harm fulling insect and chicks.

LI:To identify the main idea in a text.

This week we are learning about possums. We had to read this story called the possum problem because we had to write facts and opinions about that story. Then we had to answer three questions on a google doc, then we had to write the main idea that we think it is and the reason. The last thing we had to do was do another poster like the first one we did but it's a little different because the facts and opinions is from two different websites.
