Letter to Jacinda Ardern

Dear Jacinda Ardern,

I think that we shouldn't have landfills because we have a big rubbish problem in New Zealand. By taking the landfills away this will force people to think of better ways to reuse, reduce and recycle. This will help our environment and keep New Zealand clean and beautiful.

Everyone including the government should be finding better solutions than a landfill to solve our rubbish problem.

I worry about the landfills getting bigger each day which makes me feel like we are wasting our beautiful land just for rubbish.

I believe that if we protect the land we also protect ourselves. At the moment we are not doing a great job at this. I hope you can help me and Aotearoa.

Thank you,
Te Raumati Siaki-Tatafu

Book review

LI:To write a book review about my favourite book

For this activity I had to write a book review about my favourite book. I wrote a short summary about the book and why I liked it. To fill in the gaps at the bottom I rate the book out of 5 stars and used one word to describe how I felt about the book.

Champion shot putter

I decided to replace Kate Sheppard on the 10 dollar note with Valerie Adams because she is a strong woman and a great sports woman. She has represented NZ at the Olympic games, World Championships and also the Commonwealth games. She has come first many times in these competitions and I think that this is spectacular. I also think that Valerie Adams is a great role model not only to girls and women in New Zealand but also to Tongan and other Polynesians around the world.

Rosa Parks dream

The problem during that time was that there were different laws for the black people and the white people of the USA. This is called segregation. Rosa Parks was sick of the law and one day while she was on the bus she refused to move from her seat for a white person. On the buses blacks had to sit at the back and whites only at the front. She ended up being arrested which made a lot of people very mad. They decided to protest by not using the buses for a couple of months because of that the city had to do something about it. The laws ended up being changed by the Supreme Court because they said it wasn't legal to treat the blacks that way.

3 facts I didn't know about climate change

Her are 3 facts that I didn't know about climate change:

Fact 1:I didn't know that coal is a big threat to our planet and how much it can damage it.

Fact 2:I didn't know that climate change is one of the biggest problems facing the world.

Fact 3:I learnt that schools around the world are striking for the politicians in government to take climate change more seriously even here in New Zealand.

A long walk to freedom

I am so sick of doing the same thing each day. I am feeling so exhausted, I don't like this but I have no choice. I miss my family and my home. I hate this tiny damp cell. All I have to sleep on is a uncomfortable straw mat that doesn't help my body at all. After a long day doing such hard work in the hot sun my body fells so sore. The only thing that keeps me going is the thought of freedom and seeing my family again. Until then I wait to see my loved ones and look forward to receiving letters from them.

This is activity 1 for day 1. I had to write down 5 favourite things I like to do. Then I have to put a photo of me doing it. One of my favourite things to do is play with my cat because she is playful, cute and fluffy.

Math word problem

She was born on the 7th of April in 1985 and got the award on the 9th of July in 2010. How old was she when she got the award?

1985+5 years=1990
1990+20 years=2010

7 April+3 months=7 July

7 July+2 days=9 July

The answer is 25 years, 3 months and 2 days.

Kiwi Can

Today was the last session for kiwi can. Since it's the last session we played four different games. Before we played the games we had to use the four them's this year. Those are integrity, resilience, positive relationship and respect. Here are two games we played today.

First game
The first game was hop potato but it had a twist. While we are passing the ball around we have to say,"Hop potato fast, hop potato slow, hop potato, hop potato, out you go!" If you are holding the ball and we finished saying that sentence you are out. If you do a bad past you are out and if you drop it and we are still saying the sentence you carry on.

Second game
The second game we played was musical cones. To play musical cones you have to canes in a line and you need to have the same amount of people of the side of the cones. Next you have to play some music and you have to dance and if you don't your out. Once the music stops you have to try and grab a cone, if you do you have to sit down with the cone on your head but if you don't your out. When you are dancing your not allowed to touch the cone if you do your out. Each round Mr Seamanu will take some cones away and the last person standing wins.

Once we finished folding the pieces of paper I glued it into my maths book and then write the definition under it.

The problem is they get they usually get their water from lakes rivers and without toilets they have no option but to just do it in the lake or river. The water they get from the river and lakes is full of diseases from animal and human waste. This water can lead to all different kind of problems. The kids can get ill from drinking that water. In Africa water bone illness has killed has killed more people every year than all the wars on earth. You can help with you supporting the water project so they can help community's like these.

Two things about being the best chess player in the world is that I am the best chess player in the world and it teaches you to be disciplined. Two bad things about being the best chess player in the world is that I didn't get much time to play with my friend and spend time with my family.

Then the teacher will pick one line to be the mirror so if the teacher picks your line to be the mirror you have to copy everything your partner is doing. After a couple of minutes you guys will switch so the line that was controlling the line that was the mirror has to be the mirror. We had four rounds of this energizer.

This week I have completed one of our task. Our task was to learn about different fractions. We talked about two fractions and they are one half and one quarter. A half is a whole object divided into two equal pieces and a quarter is a whole object divided into four equal pieces.
