LI: To find, explain, and fix the error

Our challenge today was to find, explain and fix the error in the examples given. I have chosen to share this example because the activity helped me think about the strategies I have learnt about.

I enjoyed finding the error because it will help me practice figuring out where the error is if my answer isn't correct.

Math Challenge | Writing Words

This week I have completed another maths challenge called writing words. In this activity I needed to read the question carefully to find the math in it to help find the most efficent strategy. To solve this problem I used subtraction and addition. An example to solve this math is to add up all the works Ana wrote from week 1-3, and the answer should be 5343. Next, subtract the total amount of words (6000) in the narritive from 5343, and your answer should end up being 3667.

I enjoyed attempting this challenge because it helped learn to use the most effcient strategy to help solve math equations.

Math Challenge | Handshakes

For math we needed to figure out how many handshakes there would be altogether if everyone in LS2 shook hands. There are 54 students in LS2 so the equation is 53x27, because if one person handshaked everyone they would have shook 53 students, and when you handshkae there are two people so I divided 54 by 2 which gave me 27. The answer to 53x27 is 1,431 and that's how I worked out this challenge.

I enjoyed attempting this activity because it helped me to get better at understanding the question and to figure out how to solve it.

List Poem

LI: To write a list poem that describes a topic by painting a picture with your words.

We have been learning about poems. The poem we were learning to write is called a list poem. List poems are a simple way to get into poetry writing that can be based on ideas that are familiar to you. This type of poem lists things that describes the topic. The last line in the list is usually a funny, strong, or important item or event. The topic my poem was based on was 'things my mum says to me' which lists things that my mum says to me.

I enjoyed this task because I was given the oppertunity to learn how to write a list poem.

How to survive a Cow Attack

 LI: To evaluate

This week we are using our skills of inferring and reorganising information in a text to make evaluation about facts and events that is not stated. Our follow up challenge was to read an article that told us how to survive a cow attack. We then used the infomrationfrom both texts to create a DLO that tells others how to survive a cow attack.

I found out that an adult cow can stand nearly 6 feet tall and may weight more than 1,000 pounds.

I enjoyed learning how to survive a cow attack because it will become useful if I even get into a bad situation with a cowl

Student Voice Survey | CARE Awards

LI: To create a student voice survey about a topical issue and present your findings.

This is my fourth task I've completed to get my silver confidence.

For this activity I needed to think of a topical issue at school. I decided to make my topic about whether there should be more sports events at school. In our writing book we went around the class asking each student if there should be more sports events, and then wrote their opinion down. Everyone gave their honest opinion, and the majority of students answered yes for having more sports events. Lastly, we made a DLO showing the students opinons on why they said yes or no.

I enjoyed doing this task because I got the opportunity to learn everyones opinion on why there should or shouldn't be more sports events at school.

Te Reo Challenege | ISpy

Today for the Te Reo Challenge we have completed the ispy. In this activity there were a list of object we needed to write the number of things there were in the image in Maori. To help us count more accurately without counting the same one again we put shapes to remind us to not repeat it again.

Some new words that were in the questions were:

Waea pūkoro - cell phone

Hū - shoe

Kotahi tāra - one dollar coin

Pirihimana - police officer

Poi whutupaoro - rugby ball

I enjoyed this activity because it help me build up my knowledge of objects in Maori.

Hauora

LI: To show our understand of Hauora in context

In the past few weeks we have been learning about what happens if one of your 4 walls falls down, and what each wall means for an athlete. In this activity we got into partners and created a poster showing what happens if an athlete makes a mistake on the performance. Using ‘Canva’ we showed the meanings of each four wall and how it connects to the athletes.

I enjoyed doing this activity because I learnt different ways to help keep your four walls standing.

Something I found interesting was that when one wall falls down their whare tapa wha loses their balance.

How to stand up to bullies? | CARE Awards

LI: To create a DLO that shows how to stand up to bullies

This is my first task I've completed to get my silver confidence.

For this activity I needed to create a DLO showing how to stand up to bullies. I did some research to help find information about how to stand up to bullies. Once I found all the information I used it in DLO. On the first slide it shows ways you can stand up to bullies, and the next slide is how to stay safe from cyber bullying. Finally, I found images that relates to my information.

I enjoyed doing this task because I new things on how to stay safe from bulling like using your W.I.T.S.

Acient Greek Olympic Presentation

LI: To skim and scan to find facts about the Ancient Olympics and make notes in my own words.

My groups presentation.

This week, LS2 has been learning about the Anicnet Olympics that happend back in 776 bc, other groups showed their presentation to the class to helps others understand the differnt facts and information that we learnt. Our group created a screencastify to show the classrom as our group wasn't that confiedent to speak in front of the classrom. In my group Liletina,Tyson, Moti, Siale and I worked collabortivtly to share our ideas on what we should write down. Using our research skills it helped us find more information and facts about the olympics.

I enjoyed this activity because it gave me the oppertunity to learn something new about Acient Greek, and to build my confidents by standing infront of the class to show our video.

Pulse Rates

This week for science we were learning about our heart rates. A heart rate is the speed of the heartbeat measured by the number of processess of the heart per minute.

First we learnt about high and low blood pressure by watching a video on what causes it. Something that causes high blood preasure is phsical activities. When you have a low blood pressure it's usally when you're relaxing.

We attempted different phsical activites to find out which activity causes a low blood pressure and a high blood pressure. The activites we attempted was sitting, jogging, throwing/catching a ball, streching, star jumps, and running. Sitting gave me a low blood pressure and running gave me a high blood pressure.

I enjoyed learning about high and low blood pressure.

Hauora and Olympians

Althetes will understand how to improve to become more successful. Improving their skills, train them more mentally, and phsically to support their four walls. Having an error in a performance can help athletes learn from their mistake, becoming unsuccessful can lead to becoming self-esteem to help keep their four walls standing. Having all four walls standing strong can set a good mindset which makes them a humble athlete.

Olympic Math Challenge #4

LI: To use the most efficient startegy

This week we have been using the Olympic games to help us with our math. The fourth challenge was about the countries medal tallys. Since 1896 countries participating in the summer Olympic games have been creating their own all-time medal tally. Use the data from both charts to work out the top 10 medal winning countries. Create a graph to display this data. Include a comparison to NZ’s medal tally. Be creative with the data you choose to show. The more information you include, the easier it will be to analyse and draw conclusions. Hint you will need to add the totals from both charts together.

In the second blogpost it says 'Create a graph to display the data' which means to sum the top 10 totals. When I added the top 10 totals  I ranked it from 1-10, So the top 10 countries are:

  1. United States of America - 2673

  2. USSR/Russian Federation - 1271

  3. Germany - 788

  4. Italy - 771

  5. Great Britain - 770

  6. France - 683

  7. Republic of Germany - 625

  8. Sweden - 561

  9. China - 487

  10. Norway - 457

I found this activity interesting because it help me expand my knowledge of addition.

Mindfulness Reflection #1

What did you notice about your breathing? How did you feel at the end of the session?

This week Panmure Bridge School is learning about Pause , Breathe and smile. We first started off by understanding the red zone and the green zone. The red zone is the Angry, Worried, Frustrated, Overly Excited and many more emotions. Green zone is when you are feeling calm, balanced, and other peaceful emotions. We did this session to learn how to stay calm and control our emotions. We did mindfulness breathing, we closed our eyes and Mrs Anderson rang the singing bowl. We treat the singing bell like it's a taonga.

How did you feel at the end of the session?

How I felt at the end of the session is really calm, relaxed and focused on what's happening right now instead of worrying about what's happening last night, yesterday, and tomorrow. It helped me focus on myself and control my emotions that's going through my head (Mindset).

I enjoyed this activity because it showed me how to keep calm in stressed situations.
