A respected leader

LI: To complete a presentation on a respected leader

This is my fourth task I've completed to get my silver respect badge.

During week ten, on Saturday I created a presentation on a respected leader. I worte how a leader guides their team and motivates/supports them when they need it most. I also wrote how a leader should not act. An irresponsible leader would act like they know everything and avoid showing grattitude. I think a good leader who shows these values is Sulia who is the head girl of PBS.

I've found this activity interesting because I had the oppertunity to show people what a true leader is.

Collate a collage showcasing life at PBS

LI:To create a collage showing life at PBS

This is my second task I've completed to get my silver respect badge.

During week ten, on Friday I created a photo collage showcasing life at PBS. Some of the photos were from the PBS website showing how students work during class and some were from photos camp showing how we collaborate.

I wrote this letter for her because she helped us at camp during the hike. The second thank you letter I wrote was to Mrs Caroline. I wrote this letter for her because she helped during the whole week of camp, and she also helped the people who got injured.

I've found this activity fun because I got take the oppertunity to show how I appreciate the teachers who helped us on camp.

LI: To teach a small group of juniors to play a simple game

This is my second task I've completed to get my silver confidence.

Today I taught some of the juniors to play rock, paper, scissors snake eddition. This is game is simalar to the original rock, paper, scissors but we played it on a snake. One person starts on the snakes face and the other person starts at the end of the tail. Both will play rock, paper, scissiors. Who ever wins moves a square forward, and who ever gets to the opposite side of where the opponent started, they win. We played two rounds with the juniors. Lastly, we played a fun game of tag.

I found this task fun because I got the oppertunity to teach juniors new games they can play during their breaks.

Motivation Posters

This is my forth task I've completed to get my silver excellence badge.

To complete this task I needed to create three motivation posters by using quotes from insparational people to help inspire others.

The first quote I used was "Action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action" by WIlliam Jammes. I used pictures that linked with the quote, and did the same with the other two posters.

The second quote I used was "Try not to become a man of success. Rather become a man on value."by Albert Einstein.

The third quote I used was "There is no passion to be found playing small - in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living." by Nelson Mandela.

I found this activity fun because I took a oppertunity to make motivation posters, so they can inspire others.

My Personal Passion

This is the last task I've completed to get my silver excellence badge.

To complete this task I needed to make a DLO about my personal passion. I found this task a bit hard because we had to explain why these things are our personal passion.

I had two passions a wrote down on my DLO. They were listening to Maori music and looking after nature.

I found this activity fun because I got to express my personal passions.

Xtra Math Certificate

This is my first task I've completed to get my silver excellence badge.

During the first five weeks I've been practising my xtra math. I struggled on the first week but as I kept on practising I got better. During week two and five I was able to get my four certificates.

I've found this activity fun because I got the oppertunity to practise my math and improve my addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

3 Novels

This was my second task to complete to get my silver excellence badge.

On week four I read three novles. The novels I read was Diary of a Wimpy Kid Wreaking Ball, Deep End, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Wreaking Ball was about the Heffley family renovates their house and prepares to move to a new neighborhood. In March, Greg goes through his closet for spring cleaning day and reminisces about various objects from his childhood.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Deep End is about When Greg Heffley and his family hit the road for a cross-country camping trip, they're ready for the adventure of a lifetime. But their plans hit a major snag, and they find themselves stranded at a campsite that's not exactly a summertime paradise.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is about a series of messages on the walls of the school's corridors warn that the "Chamber of Secrets" has been opened and that the "heir of Slytherin" would kill all pupils who do not come from all-magical families.

I found these books amazing and I think you should read them too.

6 Days of Transum

This is my third task I've completed to get my silver excellence badge.

During the last six days I've been practising my six times tables. I struggled on the first day because I forgot most of them, but as I kept practising I've gotten better and better.

I've found this activity fun because I got the oppertunity to practise my six times table and improve each day I do it.

Duffy Assembly

LI: To understand how reading can change one's life.

Today we had Marc from Duffy come and talk to us about the importance of reading and how reading can make a big impact on your life.  Although Marc had some challenges in his life he used reading as a tool to get through the hard times.  Marc believes that there is only CANs and not CAN’Ts.

I found the words Marc said interesting because they taught me how reading can change your life.

Key Competencies

LI:To compare the Key Competencies we think we will use on camp and the Key Competencies we actually used.

Before we went to camp our challenge was to think about when we might use the Key Competencies as we faced the challenges.  When we came back from camp we looked at this and compared how we thought we would use the Key Competencies and how we actually used them.  I found this activity fun because I can now share how I used the key competencies during camp.

Camp Collage

LI:To create a collage of your camp highlights

This week LS2 have been celebrating our camp. I created this collage to show my time at camp and the activities I enjoyed. To make my collage effective I thought about the size of the images, the angle of the images and I tried hard not to leave any gaps between the photos.

I found this activity fun because I can now share my memories from camp.

5 Minutes of Camp

LI:To recount a 5 minute snapshot of one experiance you had at camp

A high beam experience.

“Ready, Set, Climb!”Now it’s the time for me to start climbing. I hesitated as I raised my foot and laid it on the first step on the ladder. I was shaking on the inside with fear as thoughts were flying around in my head. I started to carry on climbing the ladder as my heart started racing.

“Start climbing on the staples!” the instructor yelled out as I got to the final step on the ladder. I took my first step onto the closest staple to me. I knew I had to try and make it to the top. I raised my left leg onto the next staple. I carried on until I made it to the beam.

Before I could lay one foot on the beam I could feel myself shaking but I knew I needed to at least try and make it onto the beam. I put my left leg on the beam and pushed my other leg onto it. I could hear my group supporting me.

Then I heard the instructor yell out, “Do you want to go halfway or all the way?” I thought to myself if I go all the way my group would feel proud of me. So I replied, “I want to go all the way!” As I took my first step I gripped onto the rope and carried on walking across the beam.

Once I made it to the next pole I hugged it as if it was my friend. I walked to the middle of the beam while my legs were shaking and both of my hands gripped the rope attached to me. Before I went back down I tried to balance on one leg and then try to touch my foot.

After that, I needed to lean backwards while facing the trees. When I was ready I pushed off the beam, and on the way down I watched how my group was smiling and clapping for me.

Last week we went to camp at Kokako Lodge. My 5 minute snapshot shows my personal voice and I have tried hard to paint a picture with my words to describe what I was doing and how I felt.

I found this activity fun because I got to share my high beam experiance.

Kokako Infographic

LI: To create an infographic using google draw that tells your audience facts about the kokako.

This week, everyone in LS2 has been given a set of different challenges based on our camp. For this activity we used our smart searching skills to find information about the north island kokako bird.

I found this activity fun because I got to learn new information about the kokako bird.
