Commenting

Today for commenting I comment on kruse's blog because on his blog I saw a google slide about Ihumatao and I had to have a look at it. He did so well that I didn't see anything that I wanted to ask him to change about his blog post so he did really well. Amazing job Kruse.

Basic facts


LI:To remember basic math facts

Today for my basic facts I decided to start of with the speed demon challenge addition up to 10. My time was 4 minutes and 12 seconds. My goal is try and increase my time so I can get faster at it and all of my information said I have my proof at the top of this blog post if you don't believe me.

Proportion problems

LI:To earn and look after money by creating with maths

This week we were learning about proportions, the meaning of 'proportion' is the amount of two ratios or fractions are equivalent by and 'in proportion' means when two ratios or fractions are equivalent to each other. We had to complete a task on proportion problems and I worked with Farzana on this task. We made 14 questions each so Farzana and I can do for each and for each question you get right you get a point, the total of points you can get is 14.

Swimming

LI:To learn water safety and new skills 

Today for swimming we started of with stream line to the platform, once everyone was on the platform James/swimming teacher will tell two people to do freestyle back to the platform were we started from.

When everyone was on the platform James wanted to teach us a new water safety skill and that skill was how to help someone in danger. He said that when someone's in trouble in the water don't go in and try and pull them back to land because if they are freaking out they might push you under water and you will drown and once you drown the person won't have anything to float and they will drown too. He also said if your pulling the person back to land don't stand up because they might pull you in to the water so you to go on you stomach and then pull them in.

After he told us that we had to get into a group of two or three, I was in a group of three for this activity. Next two people in my group had to go in the pool and the other person has to sit on the wall and save us. Once that person saved us we had to swap persons so all of us get a turn at saving each other.

Incline plain|Animation wedge



Today we had to find out of what is a incline plain by watching two videos but first we had to find a partner first so we can finish it faster. Once we watched them we had to get a toy car and make our own incline plain by using stuff around the class room. Once we made it we had to test it out and then answer two questions on a google drawing. One of the questions we had to answer it by drawing a picture without coping and pasting it on our poster. We drew a car driving up a incline and next to it we wrote an explanation of it for people who don't understand.

Two days later we had to complete a task in a group of six about a wedge, a wedge is made up of two inclined plane also the wedge is the twin of the inclined plane. The wedge is made out of two inclined planes stuck together. My group decided to make an animation of a hammer hammering a nail into a wood and another slide that's the same thing but the nail has no wedge at the bottom. We had to add another slide of why the nail didn't work and that it bent instead.

Fix the poster


LI:To apply print design rules.

This week we are still learning about the print design rules, the print design rules are composition, layout, colour and text. On a google slide we had fix four posters and those four posters we had to fix the composition, layout, colour and the text. We had to think of what we can do to fix the posters.

The first poster we had to fix was about the colour, I had to fix the colours of the text box and the colour of the writing because the colour of the text box and the words were clashing and when it's clashing it hurts your eyes so I had to change the colour.

The next poster I had to fix was the text, I had to a line the photos on the right hand side. Then I had to fix was the middle text box because the text box was over lapping the bottom text box so I had to move it up. The last thing I had to do was make the fonts the same and a line the information.

After that I had to fix another poster and I had to fix the layout, the first thing I fixed was the was the title, I had to put the title on the top and the photo at the bottom of it. The thing fixed was the photos on the right hand side, I had to put the photo that has the characters near the information about the main characters and the photo other photo next to the text with the information about mythology.

The last poster I had to fix was the composition, the first thing I added was a title of what the text was about. Then I moved the three text boxes with the information up near the title so the blank bits at the bottom of the poster I can add two photos so I can fill in that huge blank space.





Kiwi can|Reliance|Self-control|Self-discipline

LI:To copy with challenges and bouncing back

This week for kiwi can our theme was resilience and out topic was 
self-control and self-discipline and our catch phrase for this week our catch phrase was, "Kiwi can says control yourself don't shout kiwi can over and out.

Activity
This week our activity was called four challenges, in this game each group had to try and complete their challenge in one minute because once we finish that challenge we have to move to the next one.

The first challenge my group had to do was try and match the colours in Maori and English. The challenging thing is that we had to try and think which colour in Maori matches with the colour in English and some of us didn't know the colours in Maori so we had to try and our best to get it right. We work this challenge out by singing a song which has all of the colours in English and Maori so it can make it easier for us to complete this challenge.

Our second challenge was that we had to try and write the alphabet backward on a piece of paper. the thing we found challenging was trying to write the whole alphabet without making any mistakes, the way we worked this out was by singing the alphabet forward so when get stuck we can sing the alphabet and then we can write down the letter down.

Our third challenge was making our own actions for our catchphrase this week. The thing we found challenging was trying not to copy the normal actions and the other groups one and trying to make our own actions by working with our group, we worked this out by thinking of actions that link with the words in the catchphrase.

Our last challenge was to do 5x push ups, 5x sit ups, 5x burpees and 5x squats. The thing we found challenging was trying to do all of those exercises in one whole minute, our way of working this out was trying to do this as fast as we can and to try and do it without mistakes because it wouldn't count.

Poem and speeches

Today our whole school(PBS) went to the hall to listen to 12 kid from different classes to say their poems and speeches and a special person man Steven from tamaki college came to judge the kids poems and speeches and there will be first second and third poems and speeches.

 My favourite poem was said from a little girl who just stared this year and that girl is Micela's. I liked her's because her speech was about humpty dumpty and her poem was really old and I like that we get to hear it again. My other reason is that she is a new kid and she's 5 years old and she had the confidence to say her poem in front of the school.

My favourite speech was Fau's because her topic was all about mental health and I think her topic is a good one because some of us need to try and complement someone or try and make someone feel better if their feeling sad and now I think about it I can't remember the last time I complement someone to someone like a family member or a stranger. The thing I like about her speech is that she spoke loud a clear so everyone that's listing can hear her.

Ihumatao

This week we are finishing our last slide about Ihumatao, we had to pick a side so we had to agree with the government or the Maori people that don't want the 480 houses built there. I choose the Maori peoples side because it's their land so they have the right to choose what happens at Ihumatao. Then we had to tell them three points that the Maori people get to decided, one of my points was that the Maori people get's to decided because they own all of the places in Aoteaora/ New Zealand. The last part was out conclusion, my conclusion is I think the Maori people have the right to decide what happens to the land because they owned it first so they decide.

Lever|Wheel and axle






LI:To make a windmill and learn about a lever, wheel and axle

Today we are learning about a wheel and axle. We had to get find a partner because we had to complete this google draw that has questions about a wheel and axle, once we finished answering the question we had to make a windmill only using a piece of paper and a straw but on the inquiry site it has instructions of how to make a windmill. Once we made we had to take a photo of it.

Two days later we had to combine our group with another group because we had to make a lever using a stick and there weren't enough. We had to try and make a lever by using stuff in side the class. A lever is like a see-saw if a small person goes on one side and a heavy goes on the other side the see-saw won't move so those two people have to be the same weight to make the see-saw move. Once we made a lever we had to answer three questions on another google drawing about our lever but the last question you have to answer by drawing our lever.

Ratio problems(WIP)


LI: To earn and look after money by creating with math

We are learning about ratios this week so we had to make a quiz or a game about ratio word problems, ratio facts or ratio problems. My group decided that two people do ratio word problems, three people do ratio problems and one person do ratio facts. I decided to do the ratio problem task with two other people in my group and we made a game. Since we are making a game we making it on a google slide so when you present and when you answer the 12 questions it will show you a right or wrong slide. We made 12 questions because each of us can do for questions each since their are three of us.

Swimming

LI:To learn water safety and new skills

This week the first stroke that we did was stream line for a warm up. The next stroke we did was the same thing but we just had to roll on our to take a breath. Then some of us did freestyle to the platform, freestyle is when you do three arm strokes and then you rotate onto your side. After that we did backstroke with no arm strokes, when you do backstroke that's when you you have to go back and swim. Then we had to try and do something that no one in my group has done before. This is stroke is called survival stroke, that's when we had to go on our backs and do breast stroke kick. The final stroke we did was full breast stroke, when you do breast stroke you have to do these four steps which are pull, breve, kick and glide.

Print design rules


LI:To identify the four areas of print design.

We are learning about the print design rules. The print design rules are composition, layout, colour and text. We had to figure out what slide is good or bad and we had to move the slide under a slide that says composition, layout, colour or text. We had to figure out which slide is right and which slide doesn't have one of the print design rules. Once we figured out where to put the slide there will be a thumbs up and down on top of the slide and if the slide is alright we had to take out the thumbs down but if it's bad we had to take out the thumbs up.

This week for kiwi can our theme was resilience and out topic was understanding emotions and our catch phrase for this week our catch phrase was, "Kiwi can says control yourself don't shout kiwi can over and out. 


Energizer
Today our energizer was called rats and rabbits. We had to find a partner and we had to stand on the opposite side facing each other. Then our kiwi can teacher gave us a cone to put in the middle, then our kiwi can teacher explained to us what we had to do. He said if he says rats the people on the right side had to try and grab the cone but the rabbits had to try and grab the cone before their partners do. Then he said if he says rabbits then the left side had to try and grab it but the rats had to try and get the cone before their partner does. Who ever wins goes to the next round but on the last round who ever wins that round wins the game.

Activity
This week our activity was the same as last week but this time we got different people in our group and we had to act out something different. Our play was about four kids who were auguring about who is going to drop kick the ball a try and score a try for their team. We had to try and find a solution to this problem. We took a vote to see who is going to kick the ball.

Fractions basic facts(WIP)

Leroy, Te Raumati and I did fraction basic facts.We did a game.
There are 8 questions in the fraction basic facts game. Read the question
Presley before you'll get wrong. Just never give up.If you get it all correct congratulations but it you get some correct it still good because you can learn from your mistakes. Before doing the task we did a tutorial about fraction adding and subtracting. We did so we know how to add and subtract in fractions.

The lion king play

Today Mr Ogilvie's reading group went to watch a lion king play. We got to watch the play because a couple of weeks ago Mr Ogilvie's group did plays as well. The play was 2 hours long but when we watched it, it felt like it was like it was only 20 minutes. Since we are going to come back to school near two o'clock we had to eat our morning tea and lunch and hopefully we won't be hungry. My favourite bit of the play is when Pumba and Timon see Simba. My favourite character in the play was Timon because he was really funny.

Water safety

LI:To learn water safety skills

Today for swimming we did a warm up, our warm up was stream line. We had to do stream line two times. The next swimming stroke we did was freestyle. Freestyle is like stream line but your only adding arm strokes. Our swimming teacher which is James told us we can do rotations instead, when you do rotations that means you have to do six kicks or three arm strokes then you have to turn onto your back. We had to do that three times. The last thing we did was dolphin dives, when you dolphin dives you have to go under water and swim to the platform and if you need to take another breath you can just jump up and then you can go back to doing dolphin dives.

Rube Goldberg|Human machine






LI:To learn about Rube Goldberg 
LI:To make a machine only using our body.

This week we are learning about an inventor called Rube Goldberg. Rube Goldberg is a person who made cartoons and machines. Me and five other people in my group made a google slide showing the three W's and the one H about Rube Goldberg. We got all of the information from google search but we put all the writing on there in our own words because some words that it says on google search we don't know so we had to search up the meaning and then put the meaning on to our google slide.

Two days later we watched a video made by Holden that had one of Rube Goldberg's machines in it. That day we had to try and make a machine like the one on the video but we are only allowed to use our body. We had to combine our group with another group because since every group has six people in it that is not enough people to make a machine. Our task was try and get from one side to other side and open the door by making a human machine. Once we figured out how were going to complete the task we had to do it blind folded. We kind of failed because Elaario missed the door handle.

This week we are still learning about Ihumatao. My group had to put the work that we did last week on to a new google slide. We all decided who's doing the things that we need to do before we blog it. Chisa and I did the layout.  David and Lukah put the goggle slides of the work that we did last week on to the other slides. When we went to get feed back our teacher said we had to put the years in order. After that we finally had exactly have what our teacher wanted us to do.

This week for kiwi can our theme was resilience and out topic was emotions and our catch phrase for this week our catch phrase was, "Kiwi can says if you feel it, let it out, don't doubt. Just let it all out. Resilience means coping Challenges and bouncing back.

Energizer
This week our energizer most of the people got a pies of paper that says an a emotion. We had to find people that has a emotion that links with the emotion we had. Once we found the people that has the emotion that links with our we had to put the emotions less to highest feeling. For example my groups order was unhappy, sad, misery and depression.

Activity
This week our activity was kind of the same as last week but the difference is that we can talk when were doing the play. Two people in my group had to bully the other three people. When we were doing the play the other people had to try and figure out what's our emotion.

How will you greet your audience?
Hello. Today I will be taking about why school playtimes should be longer.
How will you introduce your topic in a catchy way?
I think every school should have a longer playtime.

This week we are doing persuasive speech.We had to complete this
google doc called Persuasive Speech.My topic for persuasive speech
is Sports.My argument for persuasive speech is sport promotes healthy
lifestyle.We had to list some facts,how will you greet,write your a personal
statement that's talking about your topic,how will you introduce your topic
in a catch way and a rhetorical question.Rhetorical question means you don't answer
the question you just think.

We had to list some facts about our topic.Here's one example.Sports help you
with your fitness level.We had to make sure it was a fact and not opinion. We had
to research some facts about our topic.After this we are going to write our speech
and present it out.Also we are going to get judged by a real judge.Also there are going to
be two people going to present in assembly. We also have to persuade in our speech.

This week we are learning about Ihumatao. Ihumatao is a road near the Auckland airport and the government decided to build 400 houses there. The Maori people is trying to persuade the government to not build the houses there because the first Maori people landed there. We had to figure out the meanings of 5 Maori words that links to what were doing next. Next we had to figure out how does the words that we had to figure out the meaning of have a relationship to the land.

Fractions of set(WIP)

LI:To earn and look after money by creating with math.

This week we are learning about fractions of set. Everyone in my group except for one person is making a game about fractions of set. We decided to write down five questions and do a tutorial for each question for people that don't know or don't understand. We want to do a tutorial because if we do one we get a tutorial bonus which means we get some extra money. This work is due by next Thursday so we had to get it finished as soon as possible.

Swimming

LI:To learn water safety skills.

This week for swimming we were learning about what to do when your in deep water and you need help. Me and Leitu had to give an example to the other kids in our group. We had to hop up and down all the way to the plat form. When we jump up we have to take a big breath in, when we go down into the water we have to blow bubbles from our nose and mouths. The last thing we did was to do any swimming stroke down to the end of the pool but we were not allowed to touch the bottom of the pool.
