Try your own tapa

Here is the tapa I have created. I decided to do patterns because it's simple. The flowers means kindness and the other design means to stay strong and never give up. I chose these designs because they represent who I am.

For this activity I had to create my own tapa. I had to explain what it represents. This activity was inspired by Fatu Feu'u.  Fatu Feu'u is a Samoan artist who creates tapas. He lives in NZ(New Zealand).  Fatu Feu'u also creates sculptures, painting, pottery, prints and glass work.

Concluding the Journey

Sadly this is the last activity for the summer learning journey(SLJ). I had to reflect on everything I have experience during the program. For this activity I had to included which activity we enjoyed the most, Which activity we enjoyed the least, Three things we learned while completing the programme & The Changes/Improvements we would make to the programme for next year. I did this activity on a google doc. I enjoyed re-designing the cover of my favourite book.

En Pointe

I think that this quote means when you think positive, that energy spreads within you. This gleam makes you look beautiful which will inspire other people.

For this activity I had to pick one out of 25 quote. I picked the quote above Roald Dahl because the books he write inspires me to write fake story's(narrative). I had to write what the quote means to us. The thing I found hard was to pick which quote to choose on the website.

The world of hip hop

I think the royal family dance crew did extraordinary! In my opinion I think the best part in their performance was 3 minutes before it ended. I really like the colour of the costume that wore during the performance. It was nice and bright so people can easily see them. I really like the music that they danced to because I like hip hop music. I think the dance was the best thing about this performance because I think it took a long time for them to learn. I have no feedback to about their performance because it was an amazing performance. Here is a link to a video of their performance.

Similarities and differences

For this activity I had to choose two street artwork in Christchurch on a website called watch this space. We had to compare the art works we chose. We had to write the differences and similarities between the artwork. I thought it would be easier to do it on a google slide than on a google draw. The thing I found hard about this activity was writing down what was the same things about the artworks I chose.

Fashion forward

Twenty Seven Names is a Kiwi company in Auckland that started in 2006. Their first name was "Love lies bleeding" but then they realized it was already being used by a US company so they had to change it. The name "Twenty Seven Names" comes from the 27 people that supported their business. I think it's a good name because it's a different and interesting name for a company. It makes me want to learn more about them because of their name. I also like how they gave credit to the people who supported them.

Feast or Famine

I'm not sure if I can do the 40 hour 'no food' challenge but I'm sure I could do it for 20 hours. I'm definitely sure that I could do a different 40 hour challenge like having no electricity or giving up technology. I would do this challenge because I like the idea of raising money for this charity. I think this is a good way to help children around the world who really need it. I like that I can help them by making their lives a bit easier and happier. It would be cool to do it with somebody else like a friend or my class or even my whole school.

Talk Show Host

When I finish high school or college I don't think I want to work straight away. I would like to play for the Black Ferns because I have a passion for sports. I like running, swimming and playing Rippa Rugby. I might also go to university. I'm not sure what I should study if go to university but I am interested in finding fossils.

Role model

For this activity I had to think of a role model that I look up to. I chose Stan Walker because he is Maori, a kiwi and he has a beautiful voice.I had to think about why he is a role model to me. I made a poster that tells why I chose him. I really enjoyed doing this activity because I get to tell people why Stan Walker is a great role model.

K-pop heroes

I don't really like BTS(bagtan boys) because I'm not really in to the music that they do. Also I'm not really use to listening to their music.

For this activity I had to write down why or why not I like BTS(bagtan boys). If I didn't know who BTS was there was a link to video that is about them. I don't really like BTS. My reason is at the top of this blog post.

Getting Stronger

For this activity I had to think of 5 singers or bands and then write down 1 song that they sang. I only chose singers because I couldn't think of any bands I like. One of the singers I chose was Stan Walker because he is a kiwi and I really look up to him. The rest of the singers I chose was Americans. I found this activity kind of difficult because I had to decided what was my top 5 favourites out of the songs I really like.

The Diary of Anne Frank

Dear diary,
Today was a very strange day at the zoo. The first animal I saw was a big brown monkey. It was jumping all over the place on a pogo stick. Then it started climbing up a tall tree where it lived in a huge cage. I got some bananas and passed it to it. Then it started throwing them back at me. How strange right? Dodging the bananas made me really hungry so I went to the bakery near the elephants. They were only selling different flavour cakes. I don't like cake but I decided to try it and you won't believe this. I really enjoyed it. I didn't think this was possible because I usually puke. Next time I'm going to a aquarium because of what happened today.

Romeo and Juliet

I really enjoyed it. Next I went to the bath room to brush my teeth and do my hair. Then I went on my brothers chrome book for about 20 minutes and then continued with my day.

Rags to Riches

For this activity I had to re-create the cover of my favourite book. I had to think of what to put on my cover like writer, illustrator, title, design and colours. I choose the land of flowers since it is my favourite book. The land of flowers is written and illustrated by Thea Stilton. I really enjoyed doing this activity.

Making a new vehicle

For this activity we were asked to make a vehicle. We could draw our vehicle or use google images. I decided to use google images because it's faster and it takes a long time to draw a vehicle. Once I made my vehicle I had to tell them about it and how fast it goes. My car is made out of stainless steel and goes 305 MPH(miles, per, hour.) It also have wings that you can use. I think this is a good vehicle for people to use.

Whakatauki

For this activity I had to choose a Whakatauki that I could relate to. I choose Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi engari he toa takitini. It's about my strengths and talents not coming just from me but also my family, tribe and ancestors.
family, tribe and ancestors.

AJ Hackett

For this activity I had to choose a person to talk about. I decided to choose AJ Hackett. AJ Hackett was the person who made the bungy jump business. He jumps off tall buildings and bridges. He first bungy jumped off the Eiffel Tower and that's how the business.

Favorite game

My favourite game to play is "BANG!" This is a 4 or more player game. To play this game the people that are playing have to get into the circle but one person has to stand in the middle.

The person in the middle has a job but that person has to learn all the peoples names. Once the person in the middle knows everyone's name he then has to say one persons name.

The person he choose has to bob down and the people next to him have say bang to each other. If you don't say it fast enough your out but if someone else says bang they are out.

When there are only 2 people left. The person in the middle has to give them a key word like blue or ball. Then the person in the middle will tell them story and while the person is telling the story the last 2 people have to walk forward. Once they hear the key word they have to turn around and say bang. If you say it before the other person you win but if you are to slow you lose.`

Pasifika Aquabots

I would like to join the Pasifika Aquabots team because I get to experience this activity and I can learn how to control a Aquabot under water. By using an Aquabot you can pick up toys in the pool with out getting into it. Kids visit different islands to do this activity. Here is a link to a video of this activity.

Hauora

For this activity I had to a poster of the 4 dimensions of Hauora/Health. They are Physical, Social, Mental/Emotional and Spiritual. On this poster I have wrote down the meanings and examples of the 4 dimensions of Hauora. I decided to write down examples for each dimension so people who read my poster can understand the meaning of each dimension.

He was also a professor emeritus at the University of Geneva in the Astronomy department. Michel got the Nobel Prize in Physics 2019 for the discovery of an exoplanet orbiting a solar-type star. He retired in 2007 but still does research.

3D printer

One thing I learnt from watching this video was how expensive prosthetic parts were and lots of people can't afford them.

One thing that surprised me was how prosthetic were made and how much joy they brought to the kids.

Tiny house

I would like to live in a tiny house because I could move my house wherever I want to because it's so small. When I clean the house it wouldn't take as long and the whole house would be easier to take care of. Also it's better for the environment and it's much cheaper to buy than a bigger house.

Cracking the code

For this activity I had to go on this app called code.org. I ad to crack codes. I found this app easy up to level 3 but found the loop hard figure out how to use. I like this app because I really like cracking codes and I think that this a good exercise for my brain.

Challenges

I have a best friend named Chisa who came from Japan. She came to New Zealand 3 years ago when I was a year 2. She couldn't speak any English and found it hard to communicate with us at school. There were lots of people who helped her out during school and it helped her learn and speak English. The way she communicated with us was by writing on a piece of paper what she thought or what she was trying to say. My job was to look after her until she felt comfortable. Now we are best friends and she speaks English very well. I think she is doing great at school. Well done Chisa!

Day and night

For this activity I had to choose a painting to describe in details. I had to look at the painting closely and then write down what do I see. I did this activity on a google drawing so I can be able to write down what I see and put the painting I choose in.
