Problem solving - Expanding Horizons.

LI:To learn parts in addition and place value addition.

Today we were learning about expanding horizons.We had to make DLO and a chart.We
decided to work as a group.

I learnt 2 different type of adding.They are adding in parts and place value adding.

The tools we used were a google doc and a google drawing.

Sailing

Yesterday at school we went to sailing down at Okahu bay.18 students went to sailing,6 students were absent.It was a warm and sunny and a cool breeze so it was a perfect day to go sailing.Mr Ogilvie,Mr Wong and Ms Daf came along with us.

When we got there there were 3 instructor,their names are Justin,Steve and JR.They are going to teach us how to put the parts of the boat to together and how to control the boat.Justin showed us how to put the boat together.Once he showed us he said to find a partner and choose a boat and then put it together.My partner was Afatia. Afatia and I need some help to put the boat together.

When we finished putting the boat together Justin showed us how to control it.When he finished telling us how to control the boat they said we it was time to go sailing but we had to put on wet suites over our togs then we had to put on life jackets.

When we got in the water I had to control the rudder and Afatia control the sail.Then our instructor told us to come back to land.While Afatia and I were coming back to land our boat nearly tipped over.Then I wanted to jump in to the water so I asked Steve if I can jump into the water and he said yes.When I jumped in I climbed back into the boat,then Afatia jump into the water but when she jump into the water she almost tipped the boat over but she didn't. After she got out of the water we went back to land.

The legend of Mt Maunganui.

LI:To learn the legend of Mt Maunganui.

The  legend of Mt Maunganui tells us how Mt Maunganui got dragged to its current place. Whaea Odie read us the story of Mt Maunganui. We used google maps to find the places in the legend.We used google docs to remind us of the maori words.

Basic facts

LI:To remember basic maths facts.

This week I had did my Basic Facts up to 5 Speed Demon.

Inquiry| Poem|Diamante.

LI:To identify vocabulary and language features for us to use in writing a poem about feeling.

Today we learnt how to write a poem.I did a diamante poem because it was easier for me to do.
We had to write about 2 emotions.When we choose 1 you have to choose the opposite emotion
that we choosed.

I learnt by going on the LS1 class site a go on the link under diamante,then it will take were
you can write your poem.

The tool that we used was a thesaurus because it will be easier for us to find some words that
mean the emotions that choosed.

Duffy show.

Today PBS had a duff show.We had a special visitor Robert Rakete.

He is the brown wiggle,he is on the radio and he is on dancing with the stars.Before he talked to us we had to sing the duffy song.We he talked to us he asked about 4 or 5 people what their favourite book is.Most kids favourite books were captain under pants.His favourite book was Astersick.

Can do| Thesaurus

LI:To learn new words.

Today we had to do a can do.I decided to do the thesaurus one.You have to read a book for 15 minutes or read it to the end,and enter a new word or a hard word into the center of the chart.Then we had to use a thesaurus so you know what it means.
