Positive Communication

LI:To learn how to communicate with other people positivly

This week for kiwi can our topic is positive communication and our them is positive relationships. Positive communicatation is communcatin with other people positivly.

Energizer
Today for our energizer was called "Flip the cone". We had to split ourselfs in to groups. One group will be with Mr Seamanu and the other will be with Mrs Grace. I was put into Mr Seamanu's group. There were 15 cones in the middle some were upside down and some were the right way up. My groups had to put the cones up the right way and Mrs Graces team had to put the cones upside down. If there are more cones upside down Mrs Graces team win but if most cones are the right way then Mr Seamanu's team wins.

Activity
Our activity was called "Street Fighter." Mr Seamanu is will say a number between 1-5 and then we have to do a fighting action. He can also say a combo like 431. We had to do it one at a time. At the end Mr Seamanu's group won.

I enjoyed kiwi can because I learnt different ways how to communite with others positivly.

Ripper Rugby

LI:To learn the basics of ripper rugby

Yesterday was our first session for ripper rugby. We are doing this kiwi sport for four weeks across the road at dunn curk park.We were learning how to throw and catch a rugby ball. We were also looking at learning how to rip. Our group coach's were Justice and Andrew.

Ripper rugby is a type of sport when you have to colour tags on your waists and the other team has to try and rip our rippers before we score a try. If you get ripped you have to pass the ball to someone in your team. If you get ripped five times it a hand over which means you have to pass it to the other team.

First we did a warm up. The warm up activity was our coach's showed us four directions which were North, South, East and West. When one our coach's said a direction we had five seconds to get to that side. For an example, "West!" We had to run to the west as fast as we can. Whoever dosen't make it to the side in five seconds their out.

Our next warm up activity was rats and rabbits. Rats and rabbits is a fun game were you pick a partner and you have to face each other. One side will be rats and the other side will be rabbits. Our coach's will either say rats or rabbits. If our coach say rats the rabbits have to try and rip our tag before we pass the white line but if our coach says rabbits the rats have to rip the rabbits tag before they pass the cones.

After that we started practising our throwing and catching. We lined up in four lines and then the first person in each line has to stand behind the cone on the opposite side. Then the second person in each line have to run forward and pass the ball to person next to. When we were throwing we had make sure we pass backwards and when we are catching the key is to make a W with your had. Once we got to the end the person in front of them has to pass it to them and then that person has to go to the back of the line.

The final thing we did was play a couple of rounds of ripper rugby. We had to use all the skills we learnt today while playing our game. It was red vs green. I got eight rips and I scored one try. At the end it was a tie. I thought that our first session was fun and I learnt how to rip.

Dolphin Dive

LI:To summarise and retell a text

This week I chose a book called "Dolphin Dive" for my SSR selfie. This book is all about different types of dolphins. Did you know that a dolphin can leap as high as 20 feet out of the water? We had to answer the questions about the book in a full sentence. I found this activity really interesting because I got to learn facts about my favourite animal which is a dolphin.

Basic Fact Boxes

LI:To rememeber basic maths facts

This week I did the speed demon challenge up to 5 just for easy start. It took me 9 minutes and 20 seconds to answer the addition and subtraction questions. Even though I got all the answer correct I need to work on answering them faster. I found this activity really fun to attempt.

Explaning idiom

LI:To learn the meaning of a idiom

Today we are finishing explaning a idiom. An idiom means is a word or phrase which means something different from its literal meaning.

Next we had to find a idiom on a website called "The idioms". Then we had to make a video of our group using the idiom that we chose. My job was being the camera girl.

I found this activity diffucult because it took a long time for my group to take a perfect video.

Drills

LI:To recall basic facts quickly

Our groups are finishing writing down our drills. We had to copy of the math question from our chrome books to our math books. Then we had to answer them. I attemted addition sheet 1. I found this really easy because I found a pattern that helped me finish this activity fast.

There is a list of language features to help create descriptions.

The objective of this Discriptive writing activity is to improve descrptive language abilities.

Sir David Attenborough

LI:To learn something new

Today we did an activity called fact find. Fact find is when you learn about different topics.

We had to do this activity in groups of 2-3. My group chose Sir David Attenbrough. We had different jobs. My job was to find an image and a video.

I found this activity fun and interesting.

Math activities

LI:To practis idependant activities

Our groups started our rotation.

The activities we attempted were basic fact boxes, drills, abacus and finding a group logo.

We had to make a video of ourselves counting on the abacus.

I attempted the up to 5 speed demon challenge on basic facts boxes.

I found the abacus challenging because I had to count and take a video at the same time.

100th board

LI:To make a hundredths board

Today we had to finish our hundredths board. In a group we had to make a hundredths board using images like sports equipment and emojis. Our groups had to do furniture. We had to choose a different pies of furniture to be a number between 0 and 9 but before we do that we had to make a copy of the board we made. Then we had to use the images we had and put it into a order that is like a hundredths board. Then next we had to colour different parts of the grid and group them. Next we had to mix them all up so other people can solve this puzzle.

If you want to solve this puzzle click on this link and then once you do make a copy of it so you can edit it.

Areas of the print design rules

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - Print Design Rules

Use this document to record your notes as you go around the different posters to identify the four areas of print design.

Colour

Good
Bad
  • This is good because the colours are not clashing and you can see the text
  • This is bad because the colours are clashing and you can’t see the text
  • `
  • This is good because you can see the text and it is easier to read
  • This is bad because the text is harder to read and the colors are clashing.

Composition

Good
Bad
  • This is good because it has pictures.
  • This is bad because this has no photos and it’s going to be hard for people to understand.
  • This is good because it has a heading and it tells you what type of food it is.
  • This is bad because it has no heading and people think these are random photos.

Layout

Good
Bad
  • This is a good layout because the text is good and the picture is good
  • This is bad because the text is on the corner and the reader will not understand.
  • This good because everything is aligned
  • This is bad because it is overlapping with some text and the heading is not at the top.

Text

Good
Bad
  • This is good because the text is all the same and they are the same size.
  • This is bad because the bottom text is bold and they all have different fonts.
  • This is good because the text is aligned with the pictures.
  • The text and all over the place. The text is also center aligned.

Print design rule ideas

.

LI:To build an understanding in all the rules and areas of Print Design.

Today we are looking at the areas of the print design rules. They are Composion, layout, colour and text. The print design rules help make you DLO's better.

Composion is having a balance of pictures and sentences. Layout is having margins and alingn the text and images. Coulours is using contrasting backrounds and foreground colours. Text is keeping consistent fonts and sizes.

If you use the print design rules your DLO will be better and other people who read it can under stand what your saying. If you don't use the print design rules it will be ugly and people will lose intrest.

What is my name worth?

LI:To find out what my name is worth

This week for math we are doing "What is my name worth?" All the letters in the alphabet is worth a number. T is worth 9, E is worth 2, R is worth 9, A is worth 1, U is worth 5, M is worth 8, A is worth 1, T is worth 9 and I is worth 3. Then I have to add them all up. 9+2+9+1+5+8+1+9+3=47 but my number has to be a single digit number so I have to do 4+7=11. Then I have to do 1+1=2 so my name is worth 2. This math activity was really fun to do. The thing I liked most about this activity was designing my name.

Self portrait

LI:To make a digital self portrait

Today we had to finish our self portrait. We had 2 styles to make our digital self portraits, they were simple shapes or or advance shapes. I chose advance shapes. I got an example on a google slide from Mrs Anderson to help everyone including that's also doing advance shapes. The shapes I used to make my self portrait was: Ovals, delay and a diagonal strip. I used the line tool for the rest of my self portrait. I enjoyed doing this activity but I also found it difficult.

I used my self portait to get my bronze cofidance badge. I was able to get my badge by prestenting my self portait. My groups I deserve the badge because I was cofident to show my group my self potrait.

Treaty of Waitangi

This week we have been learning about the Treaty of Waitangi by accessing different text types and media.

In groups we needed to firstly access the information and gather the main ideas of Who, What, Where, Why and When. We had journal stories, website, youtube videos and more.

We then had to summarise the information in to sentences using key words. Even though we all picked out different words, the main idea of the treaty are the 3 Ps.

The 3 Ps are Protection, Partnership and Participation. This is what the treaty set out to achieve.

We then had to evaluate our new learnings and think of questions that we want to find more information on.

I fact that I learnt was I learnt that the  three P’s(Partnership, Protection and participation)is the relationship between the government and the Maori’s under the treaty of Waitangi.

Crazy Cricket

LI:To develop fundamental movements in cricket

Today we did our first session of cricket with Brian from HPCC.

I did a sesson on throwing a ball at a set of stumps. We also did an activity where we had to hit 2 balls off cones as far as we could. Lastly we did a catching drill with 2 balls in a big circle.

I was tired at the end from all that running. I need to work on my aiming when I'm throwing.

Maritime Museum

LI:To study the history of New Zealand maritime explorers.

Yesterday LS1 went to the maritime museum. We went to the museum to explore and find information about boats and famous sailors.

We learnt about sailors like Captin Cook. We also learnt about different typers of boats that famous sailors used. When I was with Lee I learnt about the sailors who found New Zealand.

It was really fun exploring the museum.

How to create a safe password

LI:To learn how to how to create a safe password

This week for cyber smart we had to re-create our own password password to keep our personal information safe. To make a safe and strong password you have to use:

1.Mixed capital and lower case letters
2.Simbles (Puntuation marks)
3.Numbers

There are two types of ways you can make your password, they are random words and acronym. If decided to do the random words you have to pick to random words like pink apples or snake pie. Next you have to replace some of your letters with capital letters, simbles and numbers. For an example 9iNk @99Les.

If you are doing acronym you are writting a 8 word long sentence. Then you have to take the first letter from each word. Then you just have to add your capital letters, simbles and numbers. For an example P!tb$i0S.
