Today I have completed week 3, task 26 for the Summer Learning Journey. I decided to attempt the kick start activity. I needed to learn to make a DIY boat.
Before I started, I watched a video explaining the task so I know what I'm doing.
Next, I needed to find things around the house that will help me make a boat.
Then, I started making my boat once I found all my materials.
Lastly, I took a photo of my boat floating on top of water.
I really enjoyed doing this task because it gave me the opportunity to learn how to use things around the house to make something fun.
Kia Ora Te Raumati,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Zana and I am a blog commenter from the summer learning journey.
I really enjoyed this activity as I used to love making boats with my brother and racing them down the creek!
Again, I think you introduced the activity well and explained the process you went through while creating your boat. I think your boat looks amazing and it is great to see you using recycled materials you found around the house.
I see you have added a sail, did you test your boat outside to see if it moved in the wind? What do you think you could have used or done differently to improve your boat?
Keep up the good work and I hope to see more of your posts during the Summer Learning Journey!!
Ngā mihi nui,
Zana Yates
Kia Ora Zana,
DeleteThank you for writing a positive comment on my blog! I wouldn'y be allowed to take my chromebook outside because of the kawa of care. I could have changed the base of my boat since it'll sink, once it absorbs too much water.
What materials would you use if you had to attempt this actvity and why would you choose those matterials?
Thank you again for commenting! :)
Kia ora Te Raumati!
ReplyDeleteChris here again from the Summer Learning Journey!
Tēnā koe for completing the Boat Building task! Glad to hear you enjoyed the task as well! What materials did you use to make it? I think I see a sponge, some toothpicks, some paper, and some sticky tape- but I’m not quite sure!
Looking forward to seeing what else you post!
Ngā mihi,
Chris
Tena Koe Chris,
DeleteThank you for leaving a positive comment! I only used three materials which were a sponge, paper, and a skewer. Would you enjoy this activity if you had to do it and why?
Thank you again for commenting! :)
Kia ora Te Raumati,
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome! I think I would, I've never tried to build anything like this before. Or at least, not as an adult. Looks like fun!
Ngā mihi,
Chris
Kia Ora Te Raumati,
ReplyDeleteI love your boat - it's so well designed and colourful. Also the sail means that it can be powered by the wind which is very good for the environment.
Thanks for engineering such a great boat using only things that you found at home.
