Step Up Kowhaiwhai Pattern | Summer Learning Journey

Today I completed day three task one step it up task for the summer learning journey. This is Maori task.

First, I went onto the summer learning journey blog and watched a video to see what I have to do.

Next, I went on a template that helped me draw a kowhaiwhai pattern. There were two different images.

Lastly, I changed the backround that will suit the kowhaiwhai pattern of summer.

I found this task easy because I have drew a kowhaiwhai pattern before.

    I think you have drew an amazing kowhaiwhai pattern. I also think you have picked a good colour for your background, too. What was your best kowhaiwhai pattern you made, and why do you think its was the best?

      Hello Chisa,

      Thank you for the positive comment. I think my best kowhaiwhai pattern was this one because this one has different designs and more patterns than my first one. Would you like to make a kowhaiwhai pattern and why?

      Thank you for answering my question. I think the kowhaiwhai patterns can make all types of shapes depending of the shape of the pattern. Does this activity reminds you of another one and why?

    So good, mīharo! You really stepped it up and created another fantastic kowhaiwhai pattern! I really like how you have used both the koru and the kape shapes to create your design and the symmetry you have used. Your design is very unique and I can see you have put in a lot of effort here.

    Did you enjoy this activity and learning about Tānerore? It sounds like you have learnt heaps, which is awesome.

    Thanks for your reply! I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed this task and learnt new things. Just like you, this task also taught me new things about Te reo Māori and tikanga Māori. I especially enjoyed learning about how Tānerore is the personification of shimmering air as he performs a haka for his mother Hine-Raumati.
